| The Ombudsman Services of San Mateo County is an independent, stand-alone, non-profit [501(c)3] agency that is partially funded through the Federal Older Americans Act. While many of the 34 long-term care Ombudsman programs in California tailor their services based on funding, our program uniquely tailors our funding based on the need of the community we serve. As we have expanded our services we have actively solicited donations, contributions and grants to acquire the necessary funds to complete our mission.
Federal money received through the Older Americans Act accounts for about 40% of our budget. Consequently, we must find 60% of our funding from a wide variety of sources in order to maintain the level of service needed in San Mateo County.
Thankfully, we have a host of generous donors, but our community requirements are growing, and we need more contributors to keep up with the demand for Ombudsman services.
We are grateful to all our concerned donors, and would like to recognize some of our major contributors:
Atkinson Foundation
City of Redwood City
City of San Mateo
Peninsula Healthcare District
San Francisco Foundation
San Mateo County Board of Supervisors (through the Area Agency on Aging)
Sequoia Healthcare District
Woodlawn Foundation
