About OSSMC
Ombudsman (om.buds.man) n. A person who investigates complaints and mediates fair settlements.

At Ombudsman Services of San Mateo County, we investigate complaints in long-term care facilities on behalf of the residents, and by acting as advocates for today’s frail and vulnerable in our society, we charter the course of care for tomorrow’s elder Americans.

Yes, our work is that important. There is a strong statistical possibility that you or a loved one will reside in a nursing home during your lifetime. Our job is to make sure your stay is safe, comfortable, and dignified, and that each resident receives the quality of care that he or she has a right to expect.
